Josh Groban Performs Tony Awards In Memoriam – WATCH VIDEO
Josh Groban performed the In Memoriam at the Tony Awards, remembering those who worked on Broadway and passed away in the past 12 months. Groban sang “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from Carousel. Joining him were members of the casts from all the musicals that performed at the Tonys. Still in their costumes, there were more than 175 Broadway stars, the most ever on the stage, paying tribute to many of the deceased actors and actresses.
The tribute began with a string orchestra backing up Groban, and then all the stars of the musicals, in row after row, added vocals. Among those remembered were Joan Rivers, Robin Williams, Lauren Bacall, Anne Meara, Polly Bergen, Ruby Dee, James Garner, Edward Hermann, Geoffrey Holder, Louis Jourdan, Mike Nichols, Leonard Nimoy, Elaine Stritch, and Eli Wallach.
Groban felt honored that he was tapped to perform the In Memoriam. Earlier in the day, Groban tweeted, “I’m filled with gratitude, nerves and joy to even be a part of this Tony Awards tonight!! Thanks to the entire team here for making me feel so welcome. I will do my very best to live up to it!”
