Jose Canseco Shoots Off Middle Finger In Gun Accident
Jose Canseco shot off part of his middle finger on Tuesday. The former MLB player is currently undergoing surgery to see if it can be reattached.
According to Canseco’s fiancée, he was at their Las Vegas home cleaning a handgun when it went off. Leila Knight tells TMZ that the baseball player did not know it was loaded.
The shot tore through the bottom of Canseco’s left middle finger. Knight says doctors have already warned that even if reattached, he likely won’t have full use of the finger.
Canseco is right-handed. While he retired from major league baseball in 2002, and had a failed comeback attempt two years later, he still often played in other leagues and games. It’s too soon to know how the injury will affect his athleticism.
His career, however, was irreparably tarnished in 2005 when he confessed to using steroids. His book, Juiced: Wild Times, Rampant ‘Roids, Smash Hits & How Baseball Got Big, implicated a number of other players. Then, in 2013, he was accused of rape. As Gossip Cop reported, however, the sexual assault case was later dropped. A few months later, he was pulled over with diaper-wearing goats in his car, though he was just bring the newly-purchased animals home.
Gossip Cop will have updates on Canseco’s condition.
