Jordan Smith “Hallelujah” “The Voice” Video: Watch Top 10 Performance!
Jordan Smith amazed with “Hallelujah” on “The Voice” on Monday. Check out the video below!
As Gossip Cop has reported, the Team Adam artist has seemed like the one to beat throughout season 9. Last week, however, was the first time his live performance didn’t lead to a standing ovation from all the coaches. He also wasn’t the highest-charting contestant on iTunes, falling behind team mate Amy Vachal.
That seem likely to change after Smith’s outstanding rendition of “Hallelujah.” The Leonard Cohen classic has become a reality show staple, and seems to be performed every season on “The Voice” and “American Idol.” But Smith managed to make it his own.
Blake Shelton told the aspiring star, “It gets kinda boring talking to Jordan after his performances beecause we always say the same stuff. It’s incredible. It’s over the top. And this is no different.” Shelton also noted that he never thought anyone could top the version done by former “Voice” contestant Matthew Schuler… until now.
Pharrell went next, saying, “I agree with Blake. It’s not much you can do to compliment what you’ve just done and have it kind of match what you’ve done. The only word that really comes to mind for me is ‘effortless.’ It’s very effortless the way you skate through the scales like that.”
And Adam Levine revealed he had been rewatching rehearsal footage of Smith’s performance and got chills every time. “What you do to me is just so — from the moment I met you, I said this — is important what you do. You lift people. You lift me,” he told his top contestant. “Every time I hear you sing, it’s an experience. And that does not happen. You are truly above and beyond what I could ask for on this show. You astonish me every day.”
