Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries Clash Over Whether Pal Jonathan Cheban Is Gay

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ short-lived marriage took another twisted turn on Sunday’s episode of “Kourtney and Kim Take New York.”

The newlyweds got into an argument after Humphries bluntly asked Kardashian’s best friend Jonathan Cheban if he was gay.

Cheban, who says he’s straight, didn’t take too kindly to the interrogation, particularly since Humphries wouldn’t drop the issue over the next several days.

“I am so embarrassed right now,” Kardashian said of Humphries behavior. “Kris just does whatever he thinks and he just has to be sensitive.”

Oddly, the questioning led Kardashian to admit she herself didn’t know her pal’s sexuality.

Cheban later revealed he has never been in love, but prefers his love life to remain “mysterious.”

    I don’t think the way he asked him was rude but it was certainly overboard afterward.

    That being said, I thought he was too but I thought he had come out. Must have been a rumor.

    Since this couple is now separated, it is in really poor taste to show this nonesense, except for ratings, whihc the marriage was for in the first place.

    Also, creepy line of conversation. Whose business is this person’s sexual orientation. Another tacky use of others for ratings.

    I was just going to come in here and post the same thing. If she was as devastated by the divorce as she’s claiming, she should have told E to scrap this season. But of course, they need to reap the benefits of the sham wedding.

    If he’s gay ,…so what! It really isn’t anyone’s business. And to put him on the spot like that, in front of cameras , was harsh enough, really kris, you have no class! And then to drag it out! What the hell is wrong with you? Unless, kris, you are the one who is gay, and you want him! Hmmmmmmmm, just something to think about folks!

    Kim has total control over what is being shown. If this was not discussed prior to taping (which I’m sure it was) it could have been deleted from the show. Everyone was on-board with it being discussed, taped and shown…except for maybe Kris H.

    Agree.. you just dont put someone on blast like that asking such a private question. It’s so rude. I’ve come across idiots like kris who just make people uncomfortable in front of a group, and I don’t associate myself with them.

    I agree with everyone but I think Kris knew it was going to be aired and if he didn’t he should have never went there in front of the camera’s. He could have ask Jonathan in private but he choose to do it in front of the camera’s. But, Jonathan did get him back at lunch busting Kris’s chomps. However, then Kris would not let it go (why did he care so much), then to ask the girl who Jonathan claim he had just met and it was their first date. Kris actually asked her if when first meeting Jonathan if he was gay. REALLY! Who does that?

    Kim played into it by even asking Jonathan, she should know better and she should have pulled Kris in and stopped him some how. Kris really showed how immature he is, did he really think he was that close to Jonathan to ask him such a personal question? I don’t think so…..

    Why get so offended at being asked if your gay? Anyone who gets mad like that has some deep rooted homophobia inside of them, why get mad as if being gay is something wrong. I get its a personal question but Kris wasn’t trying to be mean about it he just wanted him to feel comfortable around him and not hide his sexuality that’s all. Although Kris should’ve kept it behind the scenes and not in front of the camera man but he is missing a sensitive chip that’s for sure but his heart was in the right place. I don’t think he’s the jackass the Kardashians want us to see him as.

    I don’t care what aired on the show, whether it should have aired, or the reasons behind the editing. What struck me is listening to Chris Humphries continually bringing up this gay issue. Over and over and over. And knowing he is being taped?? and his badgering and his friend’s reactions are being recorded?? What kind of individual is this Chris? Where are his filters? Any empathy? I’m hoping this friend ended up not caring one way or the other, as then I’d have to question the Kardashians for allowing this to be aired.

    Chris, like most of us, likely put on his best face to woo Kim prior to their marriage and won her over. (Same with Kim) Nothing wrong with wanting to impress a bf/gf So no diss intended there. It’s just that longer-term relationships than they had generally serve to reveal one’s truer personality (and warts) through time, vs the more perfect side that takes greater effort to sustain long-term. Maybe his carefree attitude during their “courtship” was a fun change for Kim, who seems to be normally reserved and shy. As Chris relaxed more and showed his even more carefree, somewhat immature side, was it more than she could bear? Day in and day out. I’m beginning to understand why she had to end this marriage. They turned out to be a poor match. She seems to be a woman who would be attracted to a man who would “take care of her” and was she attracted to Chris’ physical size due to that longing? While it seems to me that Chris would be happy with someone who wouldn’t mind being “the mother”.

    Personally, I still believe that Jonathan is gay, even though he denied it. The mannerisms just seem to be there. And no straight man is going to run to a gay man and cry on his shoulder about being asked whether or not he is gay. He’s just not going to do it. If anything, a straight guy is going to say to his straight buddies (whenever they happen to get together) something like, “can you believe his bull?” And a straight guy is going to answer the question very quickly with his chest stuck out and in an almost bragging attitude, he is sure to say something like, WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU MAN!!? AIN’T NO GAY OVER HERE!!! And what straight man wants to keep the “notches in his belt” a secret? None that I know. In general, Yes Kris is crass. However, if Jonathan is not gay, it shouldn’t have been a problem with the question or the answer. It’s only a problem when the person is actually gay. And if Jonathan is gay (which I truly believe), then he must not be proud of who he is by hiding it.

    And c’mon Kim, don’t try to pretend that you weren’t curious about Jonathan’s sexual orientation too. Kris was not the only one who was curious about it. It was quite obvious that you were also wanting to know the answer even though you pretended not to be interested. If you had really wanted Kris to stop with the question, you wouldn’t have participated by also asking Jonathan the question and changing clothes in his presence. You would have just refused to participate. So fess up!

    I think a lot of people think he is. It doesn’t matter either way. But I agree with everyone that it could have been something done off camera and the Kim and the K Krew had a say about what stayed and what goes. But I think Kris was genuinely curious and I think he had a right to be concerned if Jonathan is straight, and here is Kim changing clothes in front of him(which they had to show on camera btw). My best friend is gay and I have never changed clothes in front of him.

    Greedy E! TV. They did a wild cut and paste job to make Kris look insensitive instead of naive.
    He is a naive boy without worldly experiences. Anyone with compassion would have taken Kris aside to explain the facts of life to him. Instead, E! milked it for all it’s worth to try to make Kim look worldy and compassionate towards her friend.
    TCH! Tch! TCH! on you E!, for being so greedy to rip Kris apart for financial ratings gains.
    Kim came across as the wronged person too, but in reality she did nothing to support her husband.

    Emma, some gay people have not “come out” — so why should Cheban be REPEATEDLY questioned about this on the Kardashian show?? Of course, being gay is nothing to be ashamed of, but because of the non-acceptance by some people in our society, possibly even within his own family, this fellow (IF he is gay) may not be emotionally ready to reveal this information. It should be Cheban’s choice WHEN to. Not Kris Humphries’.

    I don’t think there are many gays in Minnesota…too freaking cold. They seem to migrate to warmer climes like Florida.

    I am not sure where you all out here think that the Kardashians have Any say on what gets cut and what does not. and as for Kim should of scrapped the whole season it is called CONTRACT……. everybody has to do has the contract says. I don’t know if any of you watched LA inked Katt.. but if u did she demanded that nothing of her and jessee be shown they told her sorry contract we say what gets cut.. same thing so try being a little bit more understanding on these reality tv peeps. They don’t get much say in much of anything.
