Jon Stewart: If Donald Trump Is Elected President I’m Taking “Rocket To Another Planet”
Jon Stewart says he’ll “consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet,” if Donald Trump is elected president. But he’s definitely not considering returning to the world of late-night television.
When asked backstage at the Emmys, where he won again for Outstanding Variety Talk Series and Outstanding Writing For A Variety Series, whether he might come back to TV to mock a President Trump, Stewart deadpanned, “No. I would consider getting in a rocket and going to another planet because clearly this planet has gone bonkers.”
But it’s not just Trump, who Stewart is happy to leave behind. The nearly 53-year-old comedian is quite content with not having to do the daily grind of the “Daily Show.” He said, “If I had known what life was like on the other side, I probably would have left earlier.” Stewart explained, “It’s f*cking fun out there. You can do whatever you want. You can get a smoothie at 2.”
Apparently, another thing Stewart can do now that’s he’s no longer on-air is grow out his white beard, which he debuted at the Emmys. No word yet whether Stewart’s angling for the understudy of Tevye in the upcoming Broadway revival of “Fiddler On The Roof.”
