Jon Stewart Takes Swipe at Rick Sanchez at Autism Event

Truth rating: 10

While hosting Comedy Central’s “Night Of Too Many Stars” – a star-studded event on Saturday which benefited autism education programs - Jon Stewart urged audience  members to be generous with their donations. And in doing so, the funnyman took a swipe at former CNN newsman Rick Sanchez, who recently called him “a bigot.”

Stewart advised the crowd at the Beacon Theatre that if they felt guilty, for example, having dented a friend’s car, they should give the autism fundraiser $50. And if they felt guilty for cheating in some manner, donating $500 to the benefit would make them feel better.

“If you went on the radio and said the Jews control the media,” said Stewart in a pointed jab at Sanchez, “In that case… you may want to hold on to your money,”

The Comedy Central star then cracked, “All [Sanchez] has to do is apologize… and we’ll hire him back.”

Stewart, of course, was referring to Sanchez being fired from his job after suggesting on Sirius XM radio’s “Stand Up! with Pete Dominick” show that CNN and other outlets were run by Jews.

The audience roared with laughter and applause at Stewart’s barbs.

But that wasn’t it for Sanchez.

David Letterman made a surprise walk-on appearance at the fundraiser, and joked that the only reason he was in New York City was that the “Late Show” host was “helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office.”

“Night Of Too Many Stars” airs on Comedy Central on October 21.

Jewish people are, pound for pound, the most well off people in the United States. A great percentage are college educated and have professional occupations. They are incredibly disproportionately represented in government and the media. what’s the freaking big whoop? Everybody knows this. At worst, these simple facts tend to suggest high achievement and perhaps a bit of nepotism, not too bad really. But, when you fire someone for pointing it out it looks EVIL and oppressive.

    which is true

Apparently these Sanchez supporters have never hear of the Holocaust and various other atrocities against those of the Jewish faith!

Angela, give me an eff-ing break. Bringing up things that happened YEARS ago is absolutely redundant. That would be like saying I’M a murderer or a Nazi because I’m part German. You do not divert the immediate situation with things that are now irrelevant in this day and age. No one has forgot what had happened, but to use it as a diversion – pathetic. This is not wartime in the 1940s and the Jewish people are not being murdered.

That said, Sanchez DID make a huge mistake. He insulted a specific race publicly. However, if he had said Stewart was a bigot because he was WHITE – NONE of this would be happening. But if you put ANY other religion or race in the mix, people come unglued and scream racism at the top of their lungs.

I’m sure there are quite a lot of professional individuals who just so happen to be Jewish, and it could be they unknowingly hire a majority of Jewish people because of that. Is that discrimination or just the way it goes? Well, again. Put the word White in place of Jewish and you tell me. Discrimination is NOTa one-sided race.

I am stunned how many people are so dense they just don’t get it.

    1) this has zero to do with the holocaust
    2) this has zero to do with jews
    3) rick sanchez literally TRASHED his own employer.. did any of you listen to his entire 46 min audio rant? I did – it is stunning.
    4) in the process of calling someone else a bigot, he showed his own bigotry
    5) he represents cnn on and off the air, he’s supposed to be a half-assed journalist. he went voluntarily onto a radio show with an open mic and called a celeb a bigot.

Then he went on and on and on about how oppressed hispanics are, he himself, and how jon only made fun of him because he’s hispanic.

Rick thinks he’s an intellect and his show was a real news outlet.. he doesn’t get what a complete joke of an azz he was to most of the audience.

His behavior, is completely unacceptable for an employee.. for any employee to openly say and act the way he did.. much alone a journalist/tv commentator for a cable news org.

Fox the fake news outlet may allow that crap, but a place of business that strives to have an ounce of dignity would never put up with that.

The simple fact he even brought up “Jews” showed his bigotry. If he wanted to go on and on about jon (which he did and how much he doesn’t like him) then he should have gone after jon, liberals, comedy central etc.. not Jews.

HE WAS FIRED FOR TRASHING HIS OWN EMPLOYER ON AN OPEN MIC AND FOR CALLING A CELEB A BIGOT.

Idiot Rick no doubt had a contract with CNN.. They released a VERY short/cold statement about his departure and he was fired immediatley.. they must have been fuming mad .. (and) he obviously broke his contract by his actions.

    end of story

“FOX the fake news outlet may allow that stuff…”

Allow what stuff, Jennie? People speaking out with their own voice unafraid to criticize their employers? Yeah, that seems absolutely unthinkable, at least to people who live in the liberal echo chamber. I guess that’s 42% of America watches FOX News and 30% watch the failing CNN. And the majority of those probably do that in the airports that get paid to broadcast it. Please. Stick to the subject and save your needless jabs. The topic is Rick Sanchez and his continual need to display his stupidity. Does he still believe it’s too cold in Scandanavia for volcanoes to erupt? Naturally, a fool such as he would make stupid public statements.

And another thing… is it possible to acknowledge the success of Jews in United States without being labeled a bigot? I’m not talking about Sanchez… he’s an idiot. But the first poster made a valid point and I say that someone married to a Jew and has brought up two decent Jewish children.

The Jews in America have earned everything they’ve achieved. The jealous among us deride it while the rest applaud it.
