“There have been quite a few random reports of Johnny Depp turning up to gigs recently,” begins a piece in The Sun, “and here’s why.”

According to the British paper, the Pirates of the Caribbean star has “signed up to go back to his first love – music – for a new movie in which he plays a rock star.”

The flick, called Sonny Boy, would reportedly showcase Depp’s character covering a presumed dead artist’s song, only to find out the musician is still alive.

“Sounds great,” opines the paper.

But is it really happening?

Nope.

A rep for the actor tells Gossip Cop that the casting “news” is “not true.”

Time for The Sun to start singing a different tune.
