Johnny Depp visited sick kids at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, Australia on Tuesday dressed as his Pirates Of The Caribbean character Captain Jack Sparrow. See the photos below.

Depp, currently in Australia filming Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth installment of the Pirates movies, took a break from his shooting to cheer up a few of the children at the hospital. Among some of the kids Depp visited was seven-year-old Max Bennet, who just weeks ago had been in a medically induced coma and on life support. Bennet, who suffers from a neurological disorder called transverse myelitis, told ABC Australia about meeting Depp, “[His costume] was pretty cool,” adding, “He tied a knot in his hair to make a beard, that was my favorite part.”

According to the news outlet, Bennet and his mom were eating dinner when hospital staff told them Jack Sparrow was walking around visiting different children’s rooms. “He was going from room to room seeing all the kids who couldn’t get out of bed,” said Bennet’s mom. “We waited out of the front of one of the rooms, and he came up to us and had a really good chat to Max.”

Bennet’s mother related, “He was taking his time to make sure he spoke to each and every one of [the kids]. It was really beautiful. Everyone kept on trying to move him on, but he kept coming back. He was here for the kids.”

Depp gave Bennet a few gold coins engraved with a pirates head, and then paid a visit to the kids receiving treatment in the rehabilitation center.
