John Travolta & Attorney Sued Over Sex Spa Book; They Slam Lawsuit as ‘Meritless’

UPDATE: Travolta and his lawyer effectively won the lawsuit on September 27, 2012, when a judge dismissed Randolph’s claims.

ORIGINAL STORY: John Travolta and his attorney Marty Singer are being sued by Robert Randolph, who claims they have hurt his book sales by attempting to discredit him.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Randolph self-published You’ll Never Spa in This Town Again in 2010, claiming he witnessed the actor engage in sex acts with men at various spas more than a decade ago.

In a legal letter obtained by Gossip Cop at the time, Travolta’s lawyer blasted the book as “blatant defamatory lies” from a “patently unreliable source,” and pointed out that the “author” acknowledged on his own website that he suffered “permanent brain damage” in 2003.

Now Randolph is firing back, suing Travolta and Singer for unspecified damages, claiming the two purposefully lied about his health conditions in order to persuade potential readers not to purchase the book.

Singer, however, tells Gossip Cop that Randolph has filed “a ridiculous lawsuit” based on his letter, “which was completely privileged under the law.”

And in a statement furnished to Gossip Cop, Travolta’s rep reiterates the issues with Randolph’s credibility and adds, “Mr. Travolta will aggressively defend himself against this lawsuit and expects to be fully vindicated when this meritless case is dismissed.”

Furthermore, Singer says, “We intend to sue the attorneys for malicious prosecution after the court promptly dismisses this baseless lawsuit.”

STATEMENT BY REPRESENTATIVE OF JOHN TRAVOLTA REGARDING LAWSUIT FILE BY ROBERT RANDOLPH

“The lawsuit filed by Robert Randolph is absurd.  The suit is based on a privileged communication, and it will promptly be thrown out by the court.

To evaluate the credibility of Robert Randolph and his ridiculous lawsuit one need look no further than his own statements published on his website stating that he sustained ‘permanent brain damage’ and had to ‘retrain’ his brain.  Randolph also claimed on his website that after he was beaten and sustained brain damage at a spa, he allegedly returned to the same spa months later, and that the same assailant was there and supposedly attacked him for a second time.

Mr. Travolta will aggressively defend himself against this lawsuit and expects to be fully vindicated when this meritless case is dismissed.”

    Even if John did have sex with a gay guy, it doesn’t mean that he wants to come out as being gay. Just because he had sex with a gay guy, it doesn’t mean that he is gay. He could be bi-sexual, remember, he has a wife and family.

    Exactly! He is basically suing Travolta for defending himself. And — the guy has his medical condition on his OWN website — how can this guy claim defamation when they are quoting his own words? It appears that this guy is saying if you don’t let me write these lies about you then I’m going to sue.

    JMO – You have no proof in the Travolta case. No one has been able to produce ANY proof. His initial accuser did not even have his dates right and there was photographic evidence of this. (Travolta was photographed in another city at the time the “alleged” incident occurred)

    People have been saying this crap about Tom Cruise for YEARS. Cruise has had to spend a great deal of time and money fighting these people. Someone isn’t gay because you want them to be. @Bobby could be right — he could be a bi-sexual man — but until he states otherwise he is what he says he is. And its nobody’s business until he does.

When I first heard of Mr Randolph’s upcoming book “You’ll Never Spa In this Town Again” I could not wait to get my hands on it, then I read Marty Singers FIVE page letter on what a loser Mr Randolph is, and that he had been in a MENTAL INSTITUTE for most of his life?? please!!!! I’m not waisting my hard earned money on a book that was writen by an ESCAPED MENTAL INSTITUE NUT-CASE.If you take the time to read the letter by Travolta’s attorney Marty Singer, you won’t want to waiste your hard earned $$ either!!! John Travolta has been through enough these last several years!!! Just leave him and Kelly alone.

    I’m glad I read marty Singers letter here first at gossip cop before I bought that mental retards book!! I don’t doubt for a minute that he “Robert Randolph” was in mental institutes just like Travolta’s people have stated. I had every intention of purchasing “You’ll Never Spa In This Town Again” then I read Singers Five long pages on Mr Randolph & I have decided to PASS on that idea.I refuse to purchase a book that is filled with lies about John Travolta from a source that has been proven by marty Singer to be a total liar.Travolta’s attorney even points out that Randolph completely made up the second attack that took place at the spa “just to make his book sensational” when I found all these facts out about Mr Randolph, I could not purchase his book. John & Kelly have been through so much these past several years, it is time to leave them alone.At first I wanted to be mad at Mr Randolph for writing a book of lies,but after reading Marty’s letter I understand now that Randolph is a very mentally unstable person and should be re-admitted to whatever MENTAL INSTITUTE he escaped from!!!!!!
