John Stamos Pleads No Contest To DUI, Sentenced To Three Years Probation
John Stamos pleaded no contest to DUI, it was announced on Tuesday. The actor won’t be serving any jail time, but will receive three years probation and be required to pay a $390 fine.
As Gossip Cop reported, Stamos was arrested on June 12 after police pulled him over in response to several other motorists calling about his silver Mercedes swerving in Beverly Hills. It was initially believed the actor was having some sort of medical issue, so he was brought to the hospital, where it was determined that he had been driving under the influence of narcotics. It was later revealed he had taken the date rape drug GHB as a sleep and weight loss aid.
Stamos checked into a rehab facility to seek treatment for substance abuse shortly after the arrest. After completing a 30-day program, Stamos tweeted, “I’m back! Took a month to take care of things. Healthy.” The actor’s rehab stint, and subsequent sobriety, is said to have helped get him a lighter sentence than the six months behind bars suggested by the L.A. County District Attorney’s office.
Stamos was not present at the hearing at the Los Angeles Airport Courthouse on Tuesday. His lawyer Blair Berk entered a no contest plea on his behalf. In addition to Stamos’ probation and fine, the actor will also have to attend DMV classes. His commitments to “Grandfathered” and “Fuller House” are not expected to be affected. Stamos has yet to comment on the DUI sentencing.
