John Stamos: Children Are “Only Thing Missing” From My Life
John Stamos appeared on Monday’s “Howard Stern Show” and got candid about a variety of personal topics, including his regret over never having children, but revealing that he almost did after getting a woman pregnant in his late 20s.
During the actor’s interview on the Sirius XM radio show, Stern asked Stamos if he’d ever impregnated a woman given his years of being a playboy. “I’m careful and I have been careful,” Stamos said. But the actor went on to admit for the first time ever that he had, in fact, gotten a woman pregnant when he was a younger man.
Stamos explained that the woman had an abortion, adding, “This was just bad timing. It really wasn’t my choice… I think it was sort of a mutual decision.” He went on to note, however, that children are the “only thing that’s missing” from his life today.
As Gossip Cop has reported, Stamos is producing and co-starring on the upcoming “Full House” reboot, “Fuller House,” which premieres on Netflix in February. It’s been widely reported, including by Gossip Cop, that Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen turned down the chance to reprise their joint role from the original show, and that Stamos was resentful after their decision.
Stamos clarified the situation to Stern, saying, “I think there was some confusion. I did call and talked to Mary-Kate and explained what the show is going to be and told them I’d love for them to be on there and they decided not to, which I respect.” He added, “They were very sweet. They seemed very into it. They just were afraid of acting… they don’t consider themselves actresses.”
