John Rich to Clay Aiken: “You Should Be Ashamed for Racist Comments”

John Rich and Clay Aiken got into a war of words on Twitter late Tuesday, with Rich accusing Aiken of being “racist.”

The drama began when the former “American Idol” runner-up tweeted, “Playing drinking game with my brother now. We drink every time we see a black person on screen at the RNC convention. #soberasamormon.”

Rich, a Republican, objected to the tweet, writing, “CLAY! You should be ashamed for racist comments like THAT! WOW.”

He continued, “I wonder how long it will be till @clayaiken takes that idiotic post down. Clay, you’re better than that…I hope.”

“And to finish it off, @clayaiken hashtags soberasamormon?” Rich asked. “I thought your charity was for inclusion, not EXCLUSION. What happened?”

Aiken, however, did not take down his tweet — and instead fired back.

“My charity is [for inclusion],” the singer wrote. “Why isn’t your party? ;-)”

Yikes.

Earlier this year, Aiken participated in “Celebrity Apprentice” on behalf of The National Inclusion Project, coming in second place and winning the organization more than $300,000.

Rich is a prior “Celebrity Apprentice” winner.

How long until Donald Trump calls them to hash things out back in the boardroom?

    Every major media outlet is making it into a big thing. Its ridiculous! I followed the entire event, it was no big deal. John just ignited the fire by responding. He could have contacted Clay privately (since they follow each other) and let it go.

    Correction…the post is not ignorant; “guest” is speaking the truth, no matter how you Conservatives or as I like to say “crazy right wing”, try to turn this around on the Liberal’s. We Independents and rational Americans see the truth that lies beneath. The is no more Conservative party they are now the super rich and the tea party and they are full of racist people, and it is very sad and a pure shame.

    How is that tweet racist? Pointing out that the RNC is pretty much a old white guy meeting isn’t a crime. Clay is right, there are very few black people or minorities there. Plus his tweet was funny. I think John Rich is being a little sensitive.
