John Legend, Chrissy Teigen Slam Curbed For Story On Buying Rihanna’s Mansion
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen are calling out a misleading report about their recent home purchase. The pair took to Twitter on Thursday to slam Curbed LA for not including essential information in its coverage.
The outlet, which began its story by insultingly referring to the award-winning singer and “The FABLife” host as mere “Twitter personalities,” writes that Rihanna previously owned the couple’s new digs in Los Angeles’ Beverly Crest neighborhood. The piece goes on to say, however, that “Rihanna lived in and hated this house,” and notes that the pop star filed a lawsuit in 2011 due to the mansion reportedly flooding. The site even says “the photos were dire,” and seems to judge Teigen and Legend for paying $14.1 million for the supposedly unsafe residence.
The implication that the parents-to-be purchased the pad simply as a “status symbol” because of the Rihanna connection set both of them off. Teigen tweeted at Curbed LA, “You’re missing the part where it was gutted and renovated in that time gap, but who cares, not a fun story right?” Legend added in his own tweet, “And thoroughly inspected multiple times. But keep clickbaiting, Curbed.”
The performer also took offense at how he and his wife were referenced in the story, writing, “Not tv host or Grammy and Academy Award winning recording artist. Just Twitter personalities.” Curbed LA appears to have taken the hint and added in information about the extensive renovations to the home. See the initial tweet below.
