Joel McHale ESPYs Opening Video: ESPY Awards Monologue — WATCH!
Joel McHale opened the 2015 ESPYs on Wednesday with a monologue full of jokes about the sports industry. Check out the video below!
The opening kicked off with cameos from Mo’Ne Davis, Russell Wilson, and jockey Victor Espinoza, who McHale said will “make history again when he’s the first person Donald Trump deports to Mexico.” He complimented the audience for showing up in the “nice suits you usually wear to your depositions,” but mocked Brett Favre for his “mom jeans.” McHale went on to make cracks about the NFL domestic violence policies, the Washington Redskins name, and Jason Pierre-Paul blowing off his finger with a firework.
There were also digs against “The Bachelor,” even though the show was airing on ABC, Justin Bieber, and Bill Cosby, with McHale saying Ronda Rousey has “knocked out more women than Bill Cosby.” McHale was announced as the host for the 23rd ESPY Awards in May, continuing the tradition of having a non-sports star at the helm of the event. A former college athlete, the actor-comedian is best known for “The Soup” and “Community.” But how is as the celebrity host of a sports-themed awards show? Watch below, and tell us what you think!
