Simpson versus Lachey in Miami; Gossip Cop with latest fumble

“EXCLUSIVE: Joe Simpson Crashes Nick Lachey’s Miami Super Bowl Party” is the headline of an OKMagazine.com piece that alleges Nick Lachey’s ex-father-in-law Joe Simpson snuck into a bash thrown by the 98 Degrees singer at the Eden Roc hotel.

According to an OK! “eyewitness,” Simpson was overheard saying, “Nick doesn’t know I’m here!” after he “tried to slip in unnoticed.”

The same source claims that when a “shocked” Lachey found out Simpson was at his party, he said, “I haven’t talked Joe in years… So be it.”

This is all very intriguing and dramatic, given Lachey’s tumultuous history with ex-wife Jessica Simpson’s dad. However, it’s also not true.

An individual connected to the Lachey bash assured Gossip Cop that, while Simpson may have been staying at the same hotel, “He was not in the party.”

It was a different story five years ago when Lachey and Simpson hit a Playboy magazine Super Bowl party together in Jacksonville, Florida (pictured above). 

Guess we’ll just have to wait for Sunday’s Super Bowl for a real battle in Miami.
