CLAIM: Joe Simpson is Gay, Prompting Divorce

“Jessica Simpson’s Parents Are Getting Divorced Because Her Dad’s Gay?!” asks a headline from Perez Hilton, who rarely knows the answers.

After Gossip Cop confirmed on Wednesday that Tina Simpson filed for divorce from Joe Simpson on September 24, the blogger immediately regurgitated a National Enquirer report about the alleged reason for the couple’s split, claiming, “Joe Simpson has come out of the closet!”

Perez quotes a supposed “insider” as saying, “Joe got the family together about two months ago and came out of the closet. He told them that he’d tried to continue in his marriage to Tina, but he couldn’t go on any longer and deny the fact that he had these feelings for men.”

The alleged “source” explains, “Joe said it wasn’t fair to her, and it wasn’t fair to him.”

But that’s not all.

Perez goes on to add that the Simpson patriarch has “already found a 20-something boy toy to keep him company too!”

The so-called “source” explains that when Joe was busted for a DUI in August, “The police report stated that there was someone else in the car with Joe… now the belief is that it may well have been a boyfriend.”

The blogger editorializes, “We’re glad you finally decided to be honest with yourself and accept who you are.”

Too bad Perez doesn’t know the first thing about honest reporting.

Instead of taking two minutes to fact-check this report, he immediately copied and pasted a tabloid story on his site, as is his habit.

Gossip Cop, on the other hand, checked in with a Simpson family insider, who tells us there’s “no truth” to the rumor that Joe is gay, calling the reports “a joke.”

Kind of like Perez’s reporting.

    Uh … anything put out by Perez Hilton can always be counted on to be fraudulent and most assuredly without merit. He has no idea what he’s talking about nor does he care; the more salacious and ridiculous it is, the more attractive it is to him. I’m amazed no one has sued him over the slop he puts out.

    Ah…there are only about 54 OTHER news outlets reporting the same story!! It’s been known for some time that Joe Simpson was gay…he had been photographed MANY times with a young man of a “certain reputation” in the last few months. Hilton was hardly the first to report this story!

    I would like to see a law suit on National Enquirer first. They started the story. IF Cruise can sue for 50 million Joe can too

    “News outlets” parrot one another all the time … IF he is gay, it’s up to him to say that and out himself if that’s what he feels is the right thing to do.

    I don’t understand why you all keep putting Jessica Simpson’s name out without including Ashlee Simpson… he is her father too. Why put Jess in it all the time? I don’t get it!

    National Enquirer just wants something to try to embarrass Jessica anyway because she has a lawsuit out on Star. NE and Star are from the same publishing company which is American Media, Inc. Then I also know that all tabloids feed from each other. They want to try to embarrass Jess for suing Star. It’s really American Media, Inc that’s putting that out to the public. Anything hateful that comes out from Star, National Enquirer, OK, RadarOnline… I feel it’s a retaliation from her suing Star. Then all tabloids start working together and even lame people like Perez Hilton who cuts and pastes from them. She has a right to sue them because they have been bullying her, and down upright lying on her. They are trying to get to her by posting about Joe her father, which she has nothing to do with what he has done.

    If the police said that there was someone else in the car, then why didn’t they show him also? I didn’t see nor hear that at all when it happened. Even if he did, it doesn’t mean that he was his boy toy. People are always quick to say that someone is gay these days. It’s as if you are trying to turn the whole world gay.

    When Jessica & Ashlee were little, they asked their dad if after two girls, he wanted a boy. He said “yes” and now we know what he meant.

    Jessica is famous and always was the most famous. Ashlee barely is/was famous.

    That’s why Ashlee isn’t mentioned– most people have no idea who Ashlee is, but everyone has heard of Jessica Simpson.
