Joe Manganiello: Sofia Vergara And I Don’t Want To “Make The Next Gigli”
Manganiello admits he pitched his fiancée the idea of co-starring in a movie together, and she shot it down. “Her fear is that we’d make the next Gigli,” he says, referring to then-couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s infamous flop. “I gave her [a] script and was like ‘Please read this. It’s such a good part for you and it’s amazing for me,’ and she said, ‘No, I’m not going to make Gigli,’ and kind of threw it on the ground.”
The actor says in a new interview with Haute Living that he ultimately agreed with Vergara’s point. “We get along so well together. I’m so lucky to have found that right person for me, and I know she feels the same way,” he says. “We’re really good with each other. Why risk f*cking that up?”
Interestingly, Manganiello’s cover story featuring the allusion to Affleck came out on the same day the Oscar winner announced he and wife Jennifer Garner are divorcing after 10 years of marriage. As Gossip Cop reported, Twitter was overwhelmed with snide comments after the news broke, including mean tweets that referenced Affleck’s failed engagement to Lopez.
As for Manganiello and Vergara, they recently celebrated their one year anniversary, and are in the midst of wedding planning. Here’s hoping their union will be a success, Gigli or no Gigli. TELL US: What do you think of Vergara refusing to do a film with Manganiello?
