Joe Jackson Suffers Stroke In Brazil
Joe Jackson suffered a stroke in Brazil on Sunday, Gossip Cop has learned.
The father of Michael and Janet was in the country for an 87th birthday party being held in his honor. He ended up missing the festivities after being taken to a local hospital with stroke-like symptoms, including dizziness and temporary blindness. He remains hospitalized on Monday at the Albert Einstein Hospital in San Paulo.
According to the medical facility, Jackson is in the ICU. In addition to stroke effects, he is also suffering from an irregular heartbeat. That said, the statement from Albert Einstein does not say his status, or give a prognosis.
Prior to the medical emergency, Janet tweeted, “Wishing my Father, @Joe5Jackson a Happy Birthday. I want to tell the world, I love and honor you.” Jackson’s own Twitter account had been documenting his time in Brazil, beginning with his arrival in San Paulo last Wednesday. There has been no mention of the health crisis.
In addition to Michael and Janet, Jackson has 10 other children, including Tito, Marlon, Jackie, Rebbie, and LaToya. He and wife Katherine are believed to be estranged, though they both attended the BET Awards, where Janet was honored, last month. Gossip Cop will have updates.
UPDATE: While in the hospital for the stroke, Jackson suffered three heart attacks and had a pacemaker implanted.
