Joaquin Phoenix Losing Movie Roles Over Bad Attitude?
Joaquin Phoenix is NOT losing movie roles over his alleged bad attitude, despite a completely bogus tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust this claim. We’re told it “couldn’t be further from the truth.”
According to Star, Phoenix is on the verge of going broke because he’s supposedly difficult to deal with and its costing him work. A so-called “source” tells the tabloid, “Joaquin needs to make $5 million a year to support his lifestyle, and so far this year he’s made zero.” The tabloid’s dubious source adds, “Getting him to sign on the dotted line is a nightmare. He’ll drag out the salary negotiations for months, which holds up production and costs the studios more money in the end.”
The magazine goes on to allege that Phoenix’s supposed difficult behavior cost him roles as The Joker in Suicide Squad, Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman and the lead in Doctor Strange. However, Phoenix was never actually in talks to play The Joker, despite his name being tossed around. Additionally, the actor himself turned down both Batman v Superman and Doctor Strange, explaining to Time Out during a 2015 interview, “I enjoy watching those [superhero] movies… I just don’t know if I want to have the experience of being in them.”
But the tabloid’s seemingly phony source still goes on to purport that if Phoenix continues to act uncooperatively, he’ll lose more roles and “be completely out of money by the end of the year.” Only, Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Phoenix, who assures us Phoenix doesn’t sabotage himself out of jobs. We’re told the actor is “offered many roles, but always waits for the right things” and “for what works for him.” Gossip Cop is further told the actor isn’t experiencing money troubles either, and the tabloid’s claim simply “couldn’t be further from the truth.”
