Joan Rivers Makes Jerry Sandusky Joke on Fashion Police — Too Far Over The Line?

VIDEO

(E!)

Joan Rivers joked about Jerry Sandusky on “Fashion Police” on Friday — the same night the former Penn State assistant football coach was convicted on 45 counts of sexual abuse of children.

The remark came during the comedy legend’s evisceration of a dress Keira Knightley wore to a film premiere.

Rivers commented that the gown was “busier than Jerry Sandusky backstage at [the] Kids’ Choice Awards.”

Wow.

Of course, Rivers has made jokes in poor taste before, including an eyebrow-raising crack about Whitney Houston’s death in her new book.

But the especially horrifying nature of the Sandusky case makes it a dubious source for comedy in the eyes of many observers.

Watch the cringe-worthy moment in the video below.

Was the Sandusky joke too far over the line?

YES, YES she went way too far. Why does she get a pass? This is not something to joke about.

    No Biggie

It’s not too far. What are you people talking about? Comedy is meant to make us laugh at horrible situations. Yes, molestation is terrible. Yes, Sandusky is terrible. But if we laugh at it, it’s easier for life to move away from the horrible situation.

It is her job to make jokes. Most people would not even think of it ‘too far over the line’ except for the fact that this article is making a point to say that it was. When you make thousands of jokes over a life time not all jokes are going to be appreciated by all people. Joan is one of the funniest people ever as proven by her longevity. People are just to sensitive . If you dont like it who cares.

  • Paxi000

Yes, this is going too far especially considering that she refers to children’s sufferings. It would be of poor taste if it had involved adults, but with children, it is outrageous!!

    Senility sets in for Rivers.

THIS UGLY WOMEN AND HER CO-HOST ARE DESPERATE AND IN DYER NEED TO BE CANCELED. SHE IS NOT FUNNY AT ALL. SHE NEEDS TO GO GET ANOTHER FACIAL AND HAVE THAT MILK MUSTACHE REMOVED FROM HER UGLY MUG.

BFD. The best jokes speak to truth.

She is hilarious. I love Joan Rivers.

  • jerry sandusky

I lauged – does that make me tasteless?

Grossly inappropriate…. cannot believe the producers put the clap sign on after that … and that the audience actually clapped. You can see Guiliana putting her hand or her face so that you dont see the reaction.

  • Claire

Joan is a commedian & her profession is mere entertainment….give her a break. With the World in its present state its kinda good to get in a good laugh now & then. I believe its harmless comedy. You rock Joan!

  • http://viivanova.tumblr.com/ Vassie

Ummm… are you serious? The joke equals child rape to ‘getting busy’ … and this is a day show not a comedy routine. Still inappropriate.

    this is her trademark.

  • guest

It’s not a day show. It’s on at 10pm on a Friday. And the punch line wasn’t child rape…it was Jerry Sandusky. Joan Rivers was making fun of Jerry Sandusky, not molestation.

  • http://viivanova.tumblr.com/ Vassie

Really, are you folks serious? She made fun of what he did .. and he was on trial precisely for child molestation. So yes she did make a child molestation joke and in no way is that right. The majority of ‘Penn State’ jokes going around have been dreadfully inappropriate, no idea how that’s ‘funny’.

  • kwq42

Joan Rivers is not funny. Those of you on the board that think its funny to make jokes about something like this – well it says more about you than it does Joan Rivers.

Definitely, making fun of someone is really rude and definitely not funny..

  • Marco

I thought that it was really funny lol…Sandusky backstage at the kids choice awards. Oh Joan :)

Fashion Police Brutality : by Keith Richard Radford Jr.
I find it hilarious that there is a show call fashion police. Everyone knows today that people do not feel envy for people who where ties, or showing up at the supermarket in an evening gown has got to be a look at me look at me moment that screams please I am so insecure. Ha! and I don’t want to sound like a school kid on a bus hazing some old lady but, If Joan Rivers gets one more face lift she will be sporting a gotee like Bruce Willis, which everyone knows the cuff’s do not match the collar so even Mr. willies’s go tee is closer to blond and need breast reduction surgery to get rid of the bags under her eyes. This woman was held in Yemen as a terrorist which pretty much proves there are none, and even Madonna threatened to smack her, even though it was on her bottom I guess as a final showing that would be a cat fight worth TEVO’ing butt: would you green dot it to save for property like a showing of Freaks, or Escape From L.A. or would you watch it just because you can fast forward the commercials? Remember though I am not Alec Baldwin so I am not stalking any of you or am I in the need for some 108 year old Fashion Police to tell me to cross my right hand over my left or how to stand in a crowd. If my zippers up I’am fine.

“O” and one more thing,,, keep the milk mustache pretty lady, I think you got it from Madonna right?

  • Jerseysmelltours

Over the line “Oh Yes it was”! Make a statement and just don’t watch this trash TV…Our current TV line-up with just gems as “The Fashion Police” and those horrible Bravo titles”Housewives” prove that early prediction by Newton Minnow that TV is a vast wasteland…

  • Duparcg

i like joan rivers. she is extremely funny. thats all i have to say

  • Forconsciencesake

Boycott Joan Rivers!!! She should be summarily fired!!! She has absolutely gone too far. Did she ever make equally outrageous horrid jokes the day of her own late husband’s suicide? She strikes me as having become totally narcissistic (read: completely selfish, brutally lacking in empathy, etc.) and going in the direction of demented comedian. She uses people as a means to her own obscene, shameful, ugly, hate-filled self-promotion. A true attention-grabbing bully supported by the tv/cable networks. Revolting and unethical.

  • Checkreality480

If you don’t like Joan Rivers, why are you here reading about her? I never did get that about people. If you don’t like it, read about something else. How on earth do some of you people remember to chew your food??

  • Donstigerwoods

    Joan is a comedian..and a legend…she makes fun of herself..she meant no harm….could have not said it but……too late….

  • Cinema2

Sounds like alot of the politically correct prigs got loose in here; if I want to laugh at a Joan Rivers joke, I laugh…if I don’t, I ignore her. Maybe all the hysterical “arbitors of good taste” need to learn from that instead of always trying to point the finger of accusation–get a life, people.

  • hope

to the people who say the joke isn’t going to far: easy for you to say when you haven’t been raped or you don’t know someone who has been raped. “too sensitive” my ass, how about you get a conscious you heartless douchebags.
