Joan Rivers Escorted Out of Costco By Police After Unauthorized Protest (VIDEO)

Joan Rivers was escorted out of a California Costco by police on Tuesday, after staging an unofficial protest against the store while inside.

The comedian, upset that the massive retailer refused to sell her new book, I Hate Everyone … Starting with Me, because of its controversial content, went to the company’s Burbank store armed with several copies of and a megaphone.

Rivers reportedly signed copies for excited customers until the store called the cops.

After leaving the property, Rivers spoke to the local ABC affiliate via phone, to explain why she was protesting.

“Costco, who sells condoms by the pallet, who sells Paula Deen books and – which is not good for their customers’ health – they decided to ban my book,” she said, adding, “This is a First Amendment violation.”

She continued, “This is a store that sells 300 rolls of toilet paper at the same time, and I say any customer that buys 300 rolls of toilet paper deserves a funny book to sit on the toilet and read.”

Gossip Cop has reached out to a rep for Rivers for more information, but has yet to hear back.

    I hate people that cry that thier First Amendment rights are being violated when they clearly are not.

    Costco is a private company and it is well within THIER First Amendment rights to decide not to sell the book in thier stores.

    Then again, she probably does realize this but book sales are low and she needed some free publicity.

    Joan loves the limelight so this move is simply Joan being Joan. Her paid profession is in the entertainment industry; her paid profession is not disrupting the peace. More importantly, she has made it crystal clear that she is displeased with Costco’s decision by appearing on a good number of morning shows to plead her case against them. ENOUGH Joan….let it go. Your book is on the New York Times best-selling list!!!

    Once an adult but twice a child. I am old and I always try to act like an adult. When I was young, I would always say to myself when I am old and start acting like some old people I saw at that time, put me away because I always wanted to conduct myself properly like an adult should.

    Joan River has not learned to grow up poor thing. She has gone back being a child.
