Jimmy Kimmel Surprises Hero Who Saved Man From Fire (VIDEO)
Tom Artiaga is a truck driver who recently ran into a burning house in Fresno, California to carry a stranger to safety. His heroics were noticed by the people at “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and they invited him to sit in the audience at Thursday’s show.
What Artiaga didn’t know was that Kimmel planned to surprise him. The host first played the clip of Artiaga rescuing the man from the fire and then asked him and his wife about the experience. Artiaga explained that he was going to do a side job when he heard people screaming, prompting him to run into the house. The hero said he doesn’t do this thing sort of thing often, but he knew he had it in him. Artiaga’s wife noted that she is “very proud of him.”
Kimmel invited Artiaga to come on stage, where he shocked the Dodgers fan by welcoming the team’s legendary former manager Tommy Lasorda to inform Artiaga that he will throw out the first pitch at a game next season.
An emotional Artiaga was also given his own Dodgers jersey, an autographed baseball, and a special bumper sticker for his truck: “Ask Me About The Stranger I Heroically Pulled Out Of A Burning House.” Pretty cool.
