VIDEO: Jimmy Kimmel’s Hilarious FAKE Talent Show “Do You Have What It Takes?”
Jimmy Kimmel set up a fake talent competition series called “Do You Have What It Takes?” for Thursday’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and it was amazing. The segment managed to satirize reality shows while baffling contestants who weren’t quite sure what they were there to do. And that was the point: No one was supposed to do anything. They just had to have “it.”
Kenny Mayne hosted the show, which featured a bunch of aspiring stars waiting in a Los Angeles hotel lobby for their chance to shine. The judging panel was comprised of TLC member Chilli, “Cosby Show” actor Malcolm-Jamal Warner, onetime “Bachelorette” Ali Fedotowsky, and Kimmel himself. The confused contestants, who had replied to a Craigslist ad that gave no details whatsoever about the show, were led into a room “American Idol”-style, where they had to impress the judges with… “it.” They just didn’t know what “it” was.
It’s not clear how much was real versus scripted in “Do You Have What It Takes,” but the parody of America’s obsession with talent competitions was spot-on. We’re looking forward to future episodes of “Do You Have What It Takes?” Check out the video below, and tell us what you think!
