Jimmy Kimmel Asks Craig Ferguson On Late, Late Show Why He’s Leaving (VIDEO)
Jimmy Kimmel was a guest on Friday’s “Late, Late Show With Craig Ferguson,” and the two talk show hosts spent most of the segment discussing why Ferguson was walking away from his show. Kimmel began the interview by telling Ferguson, “I’ve wanted to come here a long time,” before asking, “Why are you leaving the show?”
Ferguson first joked, “I can’t live by their rules,” then said that unlike Kimmel, who seemingly employs all his relatives, “My family doesn’t work here, plus I can’t do it anymore.” Ferguson noted that hosting the CBS show “doesn’t bother me,” but said he feels “I’ve done whatever I was going to do with it.” Kimmel explained that talk show hosts aren’t supposed to walk way from their plum gigs. “We get fired. We don’t leave them voluntarily,” he told Ferguson, who he suggested should “march into CBS” and tell them “I’m going to stick around a little longer.”
But the “Late, Late Show” host reiterated that the job was just not for him anymore. “How do you keep doing it,” he asked Kimmel, “because I can’t.” Ferguson said he’s “not ungrateful,” but he’s “not going to spend the whole time talking to celebrities.”
Naturally, the conversation then turned to their penises. Kimmel said, “I’m very grateful for my penis. I really am. Don’t get me wrong, I love my iPhone, but when you’re talking about your prize possession, that’s it right there.” When Ferguson complained about his, Kimmel offered, “You’re more than welcome to borrow mine.”
They ended the segment with Ferguson thanking Kimmel. He said he was “grateful” for his colleague’s support,” adding that Kimmel’s a “true gentleman, and I wish you continued success.” Kimmel ended by saying, “You do a great job, and you will be missed.”
Ferguson’s last night as the host of the “Late, Late Show” is December 19.
