Jimmy Kimmel asks American Idol questions

There are people who think Robert Durst was a finalist on last night’s “American Idol,” and that Joe Biden was eliminated earlier in the season. Really. In the latest installment of Jimmy Kimmel’s “Lie Witness News,” it was revealed people on the streets of Los Angeles are either completely clueless about “Idol,” or just really, really gullible. Watch below!

As Gossip Cop has reported, Kimmel’s recurring segment features a staffer interviewing random passersby outside the show’s Hollywood studio about a news event, but changing it ever so slightly to see if people pick up on the incorrect information, or just go along with it. Kimmel introduced the newest bit by explaining that “Idol” was canceled this week because “no one cares about any of the people competing on it,” and he set out to prove it.

In the hours before Wednesday’s “Idol” season finale, strangers were asked how they feel about the contestants on the show, except none of the names given were actually people in the competition. Durst, of course, is the notorious accused murder recently arrested and featured on the HBO miniseries “The Jinx,” but that didn’t stop people from believing that he had a chance of winning “Idol”.”

“I hear that he’s really good,” one woman said. A guy was asked about Durst’s audition, and commented, “He’s a good singer, I guess!” Another woman was asked if Jay or Adnan, the real-life people profiled in the murder mystery podcast “Serial,” was going to win the season. The lady not claimed she watched the first part of the “Idol” finale the night before, but then inexplicably predicted Jay would win.

And the last guy was asked about Biden’s “disappointing” elimination. His response is priceless. Check out the video below!
