Jimmy Fallon Golden Globes Monologue Video: Watch Golden Globe Awards Opening!
Jimmy Fallon gave a hilarious, if partially unintentional, monologue at the 2017 Golden Globes on Sunday. Watch below!
Fallon took the stage to applause, of course, but revealed, “Already the Teleprompter’s down, so this is a great way to start the show.” He then ad-libbed, I can do impressions. Cut to Justin Timberlake, please…. I’ll make up this monologue.” Fortunately, a substitute monitor was brought in, and Fallon began in earnest, welcoming everyone to the Golden Globes, quipping that it’s where the popular vote is still “honored.”
He went on to crack that, in 12 days, we’ll find out what happens if King Joffrey from “Game of Thrones” had lived. And Fallon even said Putin helped count tonight’s votes. There were also jokes about Ryan Gosling and La La Land, Cuba Gooding Jr. and O.J. Simpson, and much more.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced last August that Fallon would host the Golden Globe Awards for the first time. His previous experience includes hosting the Emmy Awards in 2010, and, of course, leading “The Tonight Show” five nights a week. For the Globes, he takes over for Ricky Gervais, who controversially emceed the ceremony from 2010 to 2012, and again in 2016.
Fallon is also following in the footsteps of his former “Saturday Night Live” colleagues, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who co-hosted from 2013 to 2015. As Gossip Cop just reported, Fallon actually did a cold open to kick off tonight’s show, and Fey was among the celebrities who participated. Check out full video of the monologue below!
