Jessica Alba Defends Honest Company On “Today” Show (VIDEO)
Jessica Alba defended The Honest Company during a live interview on the “Today” show on Thursday. Check out the video below.
Alba founded the eco-friendly Honest Company in 2011, developing non-toxic products ranging from diapers to sunscreen. But beginning last year, the business was hit with a number of damning allegations and lawsuits. Among them are claims that the sunblock didn’t actually offer protection, a harmful chemical was in the Honest laundry detergent, and its baby formula wasn’t actually organic.
And though Alba was on “Today” to promote her new movie, Mechanic Resurrection, she was also asked about these controversies. “Well, it’s, you know, obviously we want our customers to have the best experience with our brand,” she said. “If an organization wants to bring awareness to their cause, I’m an easy target and our brand is an easy target, obviously because I get the different kind of attention than other brands would, and so it’s just sort of what happens.”
Alba went on, “But if anyone who does any research understands — and our customers are savvy enough to do research and understand — the integrity of our products. We stand by our ingredients, the effectiveness of the products, and we’re pretty optimistic that we’re going to win every case.”
“It’s just a headline, really,” the actress and entrepreneur insisted. “Because when you look into any of it, they’re baseless. There’s no merit behind any of it.” Asked specifically if the products are “safe,” Alba answered, “They’re amazing, yeah. And what’s incredible, if anything, it gives our customers an opportunity to speak out and get behind us, and we’ve grown tremendously over the last four and a half years.”
Alba noted that millenials are among her biggest customer base, because “they want safe, effective products. They want them to be affordable, beautiful design, and the convenience that we can be delivered to their home.” She added, “So we’ve had a really positive effect on so many people’s lives, and it’s a dream come true, because that’s all I really wanted.”
