Jennifer Lopez Poses With Her Twins For People Cover, Talks Fear Of “Being Alone”
Jennifer Lopez and her 6-year-old twins cover the new edition of People magazine, nearly seven years after son Max and daughter Emme had their worldwide debut on a March 2008 cover. A lot has happened since then, including Lopez’s divorce from their father, Marc Anthony.
In the accompanying interview, Lopez opens up about what she’s learned through her failed relationships, particularly since splitting with Casper Smart last year. “I always found my comfort in another person,” she tells People. “Instead of giving myself time to heal and be on my own, I was so afraid to be that I was always like, ‘Okay somebody else just come in here and help me forget I’m in so much pain.”
Admittedly “terrified of being alone,” Lopez says she was determined to be just that after the breakup with Smart. “I had to make a commitment to myself to be alone: no flirting. No possibility of anything. No boys in any way, shape of form. I said, ‘I’m shutting it down,'” she says.
“Listen, at the end of the day, love is the best thing,” acknowledges Lopez. “But what I’ve discovered is that I can’t get that from somebody else. It’s the love inside me, for myself, that will help me through. The “American Idol” judge further says that while she’s now “open” to dating again, she’s also “not looking.”
She explains, “I still believe in the fairy tale. The more I work on myself, the more I give myself the opportunity to share a really deep and meaningful relationship that can give me my fairy tale and last forever.” The full interview hits newsstands Friday.
