Jennifer Lopez “Today” Show Video: Watch “Shades Of Blue” Interview!
Jennifer Lopez appeared on the “Today” show on Thursday to promote the new season of “Shades of Blue.” Watch below!
The second season of the NBC cop drama, which premieres on Sunday, picks up with the aftermath of Lopez’s character Harley killing her abusive ex. “Harley’s in trouble again,” Lopez exclaimed with a smile on the morning show. “I mean, it’s the story of her life.”
Though she insists her TV alter-ego is a “good person,” Lopez acknowledged she and her partner, played by Ray Liotta, have “blurred the lines… that’s a slippery slope.” She explained, “They’ve reached a point where they can’t stop the downward spiral. The whole of the first season was really about it catching up with them, and it ending… where her whole world is crashing down on her and she has a dead man on her floor that she just snapped his neck.”
“Now she has more secrets. Now she has more challenges. There’s different outside threats,” Lopez teased. Savannah Guthrie went on to praise the superstar for balancing the TV show with her Las Vegas residency, work on a new album, pre-production on NBC’s Bye Bye Birdie musical and, of course, motherhood. That prompted Lopez to joke, “When you say it like that, I feel like I wanna go to sleep!”
She admitted, “It is a little bit insane. I take it one day at a time. Me and [my] kids, we’re like gypsies. We’re traveling all over the place and just getting it done and doing the best we can. I feel really lucky.” She added of her 9-year-old twins, “I didn’t have kids until later. I almost thought it wasn’t going to happen to me. So I’m very aware that I was blessed with that.”
Lopez, who performed on “Today” with Lin-Manuel Miranda last summer, is currently making the media rounds for “Shades of Blue.” She stopped by “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday, and she’ll be on Friday’s “The View.” Check out the “Today” show video below!
