Jennifer Lopez on American Idol Future: “Maybe It’s Time For Me To Go” (VIDEO)

Jennifer Lopez may be ready to walk away from the judges’ table on “American Idol.”

While on Thursday’s “Today” show to promote her appearance in Ice Age: Continental Drift, Lopez was asked about her future on the singing competition show.

She said, ”Maybe it’s time for me to go.”

Still, J. Lo clearly appeared torn.

She told Natalie Morales, “It’s a tough decision either way, but I have to say there are so many things I do that I put on hold for that,” adding, “It’s a heartbreaking decision if I’m gonna have to go.”

When pressed on whether she’s already made up her mind not to return for a third season, Lopez replied, “Little by little I am.”

She went on to say, “I love everybody, I love all the guys [host Ryan Seacrest and judges Randy Jackson and Steven Tyler] on the show, I love the family that’s there… but I am thinking that maybe it’s time for me to go and do other things I really love to do,” such as films and touring.

This summer Lopez is on tour with Enrique Iglesias.

A number of people have been named as possible replacements in the past few days, including former “American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert.

In 2010, Gossip Cop was the first outlet to report Lopez was joining “Idol.”

    I think it’s time for her to go, before they have to rename the damn thing to the JLo Show. I’m sick of her self promotion. This show is supposed to be about the contestentants and it has become about the judges. Ridiculous! Also, if they put Adam Lambert on the panel, I’m officially done with it. He is annoying as all get out.

    I wouldn’t be sad to see her leave … she’s another judge that won’t be honest with the contestant unless one of the other judges is first. She sugarcoats everything. I think Adam Lambert would be terrific! I would definitely vote for him to be a judge! While we’re talking AI, I wish they wouldn’t give backgrounds on the contestants either … they’re there to win a singing contest not get sympathy votes because they’ve endured loss or sickness or whatever.

    LOL! Sounds to me like salary negotiations are fully underway. All the whispers about who is being tapped to replace, deep, soulful sighs from certain current judges about how much they love it, but how much they have to give up money/career-wise to be on the show for such a chunk of time, blah de blah, blah, blah…

    JLo is ok. Don’t mind the other two. I’d LOVE to see Adam Lambert on the show as a judge, but I don’t think that’s going to happen.
