Jennifer Lopez AMAs Video: Watch American Music Awards Opening Performance Here!
Jennifer Lopez opened the 2015 American Music Awards on Sunday with a musical tribute to the songs of the year. Watch the video here!
Lopez began the show by performing a stripped-down version of her 1999 hit, “Waiting For Tonight.” The star-studded crowd applauded as she showed off her vocal prowess. But Lopez then asked the audience not to cheer for her.
Because this night wasn’t about J.Lo. It was about all the artists who have helped make this a memorable year in music. And with that, Jenny From The Block began a dance tribute that was accompanied by a medley of hits from the last year.
The songs included “Uptown Funk,” “Anaconda,” “Feeling Myself,” “I Can’t Feel My Face,” “Girl Crush, “Bad Blood” “Trap Queen,” “Hotline Bling,” “Thinking Out Loud,” and “Where Are U Now.” Lopez closed with Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money.” At the end, an explosion of cash rained down on stage.
After a commercial break, Lopez returned to the stage for a formal introduction. She reflected on watching the AMAs as a “kid in the Bronx,” and specifically recalled watching Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Janet Jackson. “This show truly inspired me,” she said.
As Gossip Cop reported, it was announced last month that Lopez would host the AMAs, marking the singer’s first time ever hosting an awards show. The performance served as a teaser for her upcoming Las Vegas residency, “All I Have,” which begins in January. Watch the opening video below!
