Jennifer Lawrence NOT Taking Year Off, Despite Widespread Rumor
Jennifer Lawrence does NOT plan to “take a year off” from acting, despite widespread buzz picked up by Perez Hilton and other sites that don’t bother to check facts. The rumor is rooted in misinterpreted words from producer Harvey Weinstein, who is quoted as telling an interviewer, “She’s going to have a long break for a year where she won’t do anything. It’s been non-stop for her and she deserves a rest.”
Perez alleges that Weinstein “confirmed” that Lawrence would take a “12-month hiatus” from acting after she completes work on The Hunger Games franchise. He even scrawled on a photo of her, “See you next year” to indicate that she’s supposedly take time off. But this is completely inaccurate.
Here’s what actually happened. A source close to Weinstein tells Gossip Cop that a British reporter asked the movie titan why Lawrence had not shown up to the recent BAFTA Awards, and that he casually remarked about how busy her schedule is. The journalist kept pressing for a more newsworthy statement, and wound up publishing Weinstein’s off-the-cuff comments as though they were inside information about Lawrence’s plans.
Gossip Cop’s source tells us it’s simply “not what he said,” and that Weinstein was “misquoted.” So, while it’s true that Lawrence may slow her moviemaking pace in the future, the widespread “confirmation” of an official year-long hiatus is simply NOT true, no matter what the blogger claimed in his article or on the photo he defaced.
