Jennifer Lawrence Negotiating $10 Million Salary for Catching Fire

Jennifer Lawrence is slated for a very big pay raise.

The actress reportedly received a base salary of $500,000 for The Hunger Games, which went on to gross about $700 million worldwide.

But now Lawrence is close to negotiating a bump up to around $10 million to reprise her role as Katniss Everdeeen for the film’s sequel Catching Fire, reports THR.

The deal, which combines her salary, bonuses and other tie-ins to the film, could actually land her even more than $10 million.

Newly joining Lawrence for the the sequel are Sam Claflin, set to play Finnick Odair, Philip Seymour Hoffman as Plutarch Heavensbee, Jena Malone as Johanna Mason, and Amanda Plummer as Wiress.

Production on Catching Fire is slated to begin next month, and is set for a November 2013 release.

    Ummm, they would pay her ANYTHING to have her on the second movie. You cant replace your main character and expect the fans to be happy.

    Why shouldn’t she ask for that amount? Doesn’t mean she will get it but you always state a high amount and negotiate downwards when you want a raise. Who knows, they may give it to her. Don’t forget Summit gave Rob, Taylor and Kristen 12 mil for BD 1 and 2 plus a cut of the profits. Jen is certainly worth that and more.

    There’s a new thinking in Hollywood about these oversized paydays for actors. As a LGF shareholder, I want the brass to say no to this and quickly replace this actress. Catching Fire will be a huge hit with just about any other young redhead in Hollywood. Rumor has it that there is a surplus of actresses in Hollywood, by the way…

    LOL. She did NOT carry anything. This is the moment where Hollywood can push back against these absurd oversized paydays for dubiously talented actors. Replace Lawrence with just about any other young redhead in Hollywood and it won’t cost the franchise a cent at the box office.

    Really? How about you read the critics reviews about how she was the best parts of the film. The positive reactions from both critics and fans says otherwise.

    Why shouldn’t she make the amount of money? She was 90% of the film and the movie make over 680 million at the box office.

    I forgot to add that I agree whoever they put on the franchise the movie will make money. However, now that she is cast she is the face of the franchise. People will associate the movie with her, I highly doubt Lionsgate will go through the trouble of recasting their main actress who already received positive reviews on her performance. Lionsgate will pay her the 10mil and I suspect her paycheck for Mockingjay will be higher also.

    “dubiously talented actors” She was already an Oscar nominated actress before THG.
