Jennifer Garner Visits Young Bone Cancer Patient Henry Shepherd At Atlanta Hospital (PHOTOS)
Jennifer Garner surprised a nine-year-old cancer patient named Henry Shepherd when she visited his hospital room at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on Sunday. The star snapped pictures with the young boy, who was diagnosed with bone cancer last year. See photos below.
Garner, currently in Atlanta to film the movie Miracles From Heaven, took a break from work to cheer up Shepherd, who’s undergoing his 18th and final round of chemotherapy this week. Shepherd knew exactly who Garner was since he’s a fan of the family movie Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, in which she starred. The actress was reportedly flattered that he recognized her.
Shepherd is bravely battling osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer. In March, he underwent surgery to have a malignant tumor removed from his femur. The harrowing operation involved having his knee removed and his ankle reconstructed to function as his new knee. Shepherd also had his leg completely rotated so that he’ll have better control over a prosthetic replacement when he eventually gets one.
Also visiting Shepherd with Garner was her 11-year-old Miracles From Heaven co-star Kylie Rogers. In the upcoming film, Rogers plays a terminally ill child, who is miraculously cured. See the heartwarming photos below of Jennifer Garner visiting Henry Shepherd.
