Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux’s “anniversary was a bust,” according to one of the tabloids. But Gossip Cop can, ahem, BUST this story.

It’s alleged in this week’s In Touch that “Justin almost didn’t come home from his ‘Leftovers’ set in Australia to celebrate their first anniversary.” A so-called “industry insider” is quoted as saying, “Jen was expecting Justin to plan something special, but he didn’t. He explained that he’d been working nonstop and it totally slipped his mind.”

“Jen really lost it, so he eventually got on a last-minute flight back to L.A. so he could fix things,” continues the supposed source, who claims they ended up doing a “mild, early-to-bed evening after having a few people over for dinner.” The magazine says Theroux “tried to make up for his thoughtless behavior” by taking Aniston out to dinner the following night, “but while she was upbeat and gave kisses to the staff,” the outlet’s tipster alleges Theroux “went from cold and unemotional to downright miserable.”

Actually, it’s the magazine’s “reporting” that’s “miserable.” Last September, In Touch said Aniston and Theroux were “over after two months” of marriage. Several similar reports followed, along with an early June story saying Aniston and Brad Pitt were both getting divorced at the same time. And yet after that, the publication had a “world exclusive” (cough) that Aniston was pregnant.

In other words, In Touch has little to no insight into Aniston and Theroux’s private lives. The outlet’s sources are either made up or really, really bad. And now Gossip Cop can confirm that what’s really a bust is the tabloid’s latest story on the couple, not their anniversary, which they happily and quietly spent together without issue.
