Jeffrey Tambor: Bruce Jenner’s Transition Is A “Big Jump Forward”
“Transparent” star Jeffrey Tambor called Bruce Jenner’s transition to being a woman a “big jump forward.” Tambor, who plays transgender parent Maura Pfefferman on the Amazon show, said in a recent interview that he thought Jenner’s “20/20” special with Diane Sawyer “hit it out of the park in terms of authenticity and beauty and love.”
Tambor, who won Best Actor in a comedy series at the Critics’ Choice Television Awards on Sunday, told reporters, “I thought just the way that whole thing is breaking is gorgeous. I loved the last line, ‘This is my last interview as a man.’ That just killed me, and I think killed everybody who was watching it. Bruce Jenner has every right to come out any way… if it wants to be a documentary, if it wants to be a cover… I love the fact that we’re not all saying, ‘This is the way you come out.'” He also said at the awards show, “Bruce Jenner did it so beautifully and so authentically and so gorgeously… It’s a big jump forward. It’s huge.”
Tambor’s remarks came one day before Caitlyn Jenner made her debut as a woman on Vanity Fair’s July cover. What do you think about Tambor’s comments?
