As Gossip Cop reported, the 14-year-old stunned the judges with her voice during the season 11 auditions. But no one was more impressed that Louis Tomlinson, who used his lone Golden Buzzer advantage during the Judge Cuts round to send Brown directly to the live shows. And for her “AGT” quarterfinals performance, Brown didn’t disappoint with “Make It Rain.”
Now the teen had the task of performing live for a second time in the NBC competition. This time the stakes were much higher, as Brown hoped to win a spot in next week’s finale. Based on the judges’ reaction to her take on Katy Perry’s inspirational anthem, which opened the two-hour broadcast, it sure seems like she has a decent shot of making it through.
Simon Cowell kicked off the feedback with a fake-out, saying, “Can I be honest with you? It wasn’t great… It was incredible!” The music mogul went on to gush, “That was your best performance by a clear mile. What a contestant. What a performance in the semifinals, the week before the final. This is the performance I genuinely think people are going to remember you for.”
Howie Mandel told Brown, “You just set the bar for tonight, and you set it high.” Mel B noted that Perry’s track is a “big” song, but told the aspiring star, “You have a big voice to be able to do it.” She added, “Your vibrato, your delivery was on point. I loved that.”
And Heidi Klum, who gave a standing ovation, said to Brown, “I just love you. You continue to rise, rise, rise.” Watch the full video below!
