Jay Leno NOT Helping Jimmy Fallon Quit Drinking, Despite Report
“Leno Sets Boozing Fallon Straight!” reads a headline in this week’s National Enquirer, which goes on to claim NBC has asked the former “Tonight Show” host to make sure Fallon “doesn’t tarnish the TV institution’s legacy with his embarrassing, boozy antics.” A so-called “source” alleges to the tabloid, “They want Jimmy to succeed, but they don’t want to take any more chances he’ll humiliate the network.”
While Leno lives a “sober lifestyle,” contends the repeatedly discredited outlet, he “understands the stresses late night hosts feel” every night, and is dedicated to helping Fallon stay off booze. “Jimmy respects Jay and the show’s history, but every day is a struggle,” concludes the magazine’s tipster.
Let Gossip Cop set the record straight: A source close to Leno assures us the report is completely “false.” Leno is not stepping in to help Fallon quit boozing, and as Gossip Cop recently reported, the current “Tonight Show” host is not drinking out of control, nor has he ever been warned by NBC to cut back on his intake of liquor.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time the supermarket tabloid has written an inaccurate article about the pair. Last year, we called out the publication for falsely alleging Leno was urging NBC to fire Fallon. There was no truth to that story, and the same goes for this latest report.
