Jax won the judges’ approval with an intense performance of “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” on Thursday’s “American Idol,” which featured the women of the season 14 Top 24 performing for America’s vote for the first time. Watch below!
As Gossip Cop reported, the 12 men in the Top 24 were showcased on Wednesday’s episode, leaving the 12 girls’ taped performances at the Fillmore in Detroit to get the spotlight on Thursday’s installment. Based on viewers’ votes, four of each gender will be eliminated, lead to a Top 16 next week. Jax pobably won’t problem making the cut.
The singer has been one of the favorites since the auditions, and she hammed it up during her performance of the Nancy Sintra version of the classic track. Wearing a single red glove, Jax (also known as Jackie Cole) sang the track dramatically, and even used her finger to mimic shooting band leader Rickey Minor in the chest at the end, and he happily played along as the crowd roared.
Keith Urban told the contestant afterward, “First of all, I loved it. I really loved it.” He went on, “I love what you do. I love your artistry. I love your originality. I thought that was killer.” Jennifer Lopez said she agreed, and noted, “We’re so lucky having you in this competition this year. We’ll definitely be seeing you next week.”
And Harry Connick Jr. told Jax, “Really great job. And if you make it through, it’s gonna be a fun thing to watch.” Check out the full video below, and tell us what you think!
