Janice Dickinson Suing Bill Cosby For Defamation (VIDEO)
Janice Dickinson is suing Bill Cosby for defamation and inflicting emotional distress, the model revealed on Wednesday. Dickinson, who came forward in November with allegations that she was drugged and raped by Cosby, says she and her lawyer are set to file a lawsuit in California Superior Court.
Dickinson says she decided to take legal action after a rep for the comedian publicly called her a “liar” for alleging Cosby sexually assaulted her. “I’m suing Bill Cosby for justice and vindication,” Dickinson tells “Entertainment Tonight” in a new interview. Her lawyer, Lisa Bloom, adds, “Janice is refusing to be re-victimized. She alleges she was drugged and raped by Bill Cosby, and then re-victimized again when he called her a liar.”
The former “America’s Next Top Model” judge admits that the entire ordeal has left her with feelings of “nervousness” and “embarrassment,” but insists that she was “drugged and raped” by Cosby. “The fact that he and his spokespeople have called me a liar, referring to remarks that I’ve made, it’s just not correct,” says Dickinson, vowing, “I want to fight this. I’m not being paid anything monetarily to do this. It’s just the right thing to do.” She further notes, “I want to protect all those women that haven’t come forward and show them the love and support worldwide that what happened to me will not happen to another woman.”
More than 30 women have come forward alleging that Cosby drugged and/or raped them several decades ago. The comedian, who was never charged in a criminal case, has remained relatively quiet on the accusations.
