Janet Jackson To Undergo Surgery, Postpones “Unbreakable Tour”
Janet Jackson needs to undergo surgery for an undisclosed ailment and is postponing the rest of her “Unbreakable Tour.” The music icon announced the news on Twitter on Christmas Eve.
Jackson’s post on Thursday evening began, “Hey you guys… Happy Holidays to each and every one of you. I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon. It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the Unbreakable Tour until the spring.”
“Every date will be rescheduled. Please hold on to your tickets. They will be honored in a special way when the new schedule is announced,” continued Jackson. She then asked, “Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time,” and noted, “There will be no further comment. I love you all so much and am ever grateful for your understanding and your love. Gon’ b alright.”
In a second tweet, Jackson shared the above photo and added, “Wishing you light, love, health and happiness this holiday season! Love, Janet.” The news comes after the singer previously postponed a handful of concerts in October due to vocal cord issues. It’s unclear if that is the same problem now.
The “Unbreakable World Tour” began August 31 in Vancouver. Jackson last took the stage November 22 in Japan, and was set to hit the road again in January, with concerts originally scheduled in the U.S. and Europe for the next several months. Gossip Cop wishes the star a speedy recovery.
