Janet Jackson Named PETA’s “Grinch of the Year” For Fur Collection

Truth rating: 10

(Blackglama)

The animal rights group PETA has named Janet Jackson its Grinch of the Year for 2011.

Jackson “won” the dishonor for launching a collection with fur company Blackglama.

PETA’s press release states, “When Janet Jackson had her infamous ‘wardrobe malfunction’ during the Super Bowl, at least the flesh that popped into view was her own – unlike the stolen animal skins that she drapes herself with, which are as dead as her taste in fashion (not to mention her career).”

It adds, “Ms. Jackson, you’re just plan nasty.”

PETA also cited Cameron Crowe (for using live animals instead of computer images in We Bought A Zoo) and Kim Kardashian (for refusing to wear furs as “fake” as they allege her marriage was).

What do you think of these three celebs getting PETA’s dubious award?

Oh, no! Filming animals for a movie? That’s… that’s… I’m sorry, what is it? PETA hypocrites.

  • Princess

Uh, what’s the matter with using real animals in a movie? Everyone does it. It’s not that bad, as long as you test them well.

  • Princess

As long as they treat them well.

  • Tony

PETA is so down and dirty some time. I can understand their cause but why be so evil with the commentary. They’re the nasty ones taking low blows every time. I hate them seriously. It’s a bad organization working for a good cause.

  • Chris R

    Never liked Janet…until now…screw PETA

  • J_lyn

PETA makes it very hard for anyone to think highly of them, they are radical and I don’t see how it helps their cause. This is kinda pathetic I don’t see how they are helping any animals by reducing themselves to name calling. More time spent where it actually matters would be much more helpful then this. How about they spend their time and effort helping make illegal for animals to be poached for their fur, fighting small battles of a celebrity wearing fur is not stopping these poor animals from being killed in the first place.

  • higglty pigglty

PETA is an organization who’s founder believes that the human race should be abolished, killed off in favor of the animals….of course in making the statement, she forgot one very important thing…humans are animals too…..bunch of radical nut jobs running around making idiotic claims about how ALL animals are treated and how much better off they ALL would be, if they were ALL turned loose and left to their own devices without taking in to account the fact that many animals could no longer survive in the wild…

This is why PETA is a joke. Wasting time by calling people names & bashing them is immature and not doing anything to help their cause(whatever it is). So using animals in a movie, about a zoo is wrong? As long as the animals are treated right then there should be no problem.
I bet if we stop giving them attention, then they won’t have any media outlets to write about their stupid antics.

What nonsense. Harassing people will not get your message across.

And if Jackson’s career is as “dead” as they claim, why bother addressing her? (In fact, this will only give her more publicity if anything, which is great). Janet, as a [female] pop star in her mid 40s is doing no better or worse than she should. She is a legend and an icon so it doesn’t matter if she isn’t as popular as she was when she was in her 20s.

By the way, its pretty hilarious the superbowl is still being brought up against her, you’d think she brought America into an illegal war looking for unfounded weapons of mass destruction the way they speak about it…

  • Vortextempest

you guys are a bunch of assholes. peta needs to be radical, being passive gets them nowhere. animals cant speak, someone needs to speak up for them. if you were an animal you would be thanking the heavens there was a group like peta cause outside of that theyll just be enslaved, abused, tortured and killed for all time. all people think about is themselves, selfish and cruel; turning a blind eye to the suffering of other creatures. how is a dog different than a mink? its not. open your eyes and your hearts and stop being selfish, heartless assholes. I used to love Janet, now she makes me sick.

  • Vortextempest

give me a fucking break! the human race should be abolished? exaggerate much? put yourself in place of the animals you selfish asshole. if you were a mink youd with peta would help you. just because you dont give a shit about animals doesnt give you the right to LIE about groups and people that do care. i bet you dont help anyone but yourself but youre quick to trash a group that is actually trying to make the world a better place.

  • Vortextempest

their cause is animal rights, your uneducated ignorant opinion is a joke. if you were an elephant being beaten in a zoo or a mink being tortured and killed you wouldnt be talking this way but because youre not you dont give a shit. if you want to turn a blind eye to the suffering of animals then so be it but dont trash an organization that is trying to make a positive difference in the world.

  • Vortextempest

they are doing those other things you mention as well. they need to go after celebrities because kids and adults look up to celebrities and if “whoever is hot at the moment is wearing fur then im gonna wear some too”. if these famous people would have a heart maybe it would have a domino effect with the public, all of these things need to be addressed. how are you helping make the world a better place?

  • Trusty

I hate having furs on me. They feel just as they are and that is like a dead animal. But PETA is a disgusting organization that gets what they want by bullying. They are strictly a dictatorship. There is no way of them stopping people from buying furs by bullying celebrities. In my state, they have big sales on fur every year. There is nothing PETA can do because there is no law that says that you can’t buy fur. They need to go where the people trap and kill these animals, but the fact is that they can’t do anything there either. They might get killed interfering with people’s livelihood and PETA knows that.

  • Grace Jones

PETA kills tens of thousands of animals a year. She are against researching cures for HIV/AIDS. Their tactics are deplorable and it screams hypocrisy. They only target celebrities and public figures because they want media attention and don’t want their asses kicked by everyday citizens.

    Fuck PETA.

  • D. Martin

I’m pro-animal but not necessarily pro-PETA. I think they can get too radical. Compassion for animals but not human beings? They lose me there…

Using live animals in a movie? What’s wrong with that? There are animals that are treated like stars when they are in movies. Also citing Kim Kardashian because she REFUSES to wear fur? NOT a Kim Kardashian fan but this makes no sense.

  • wdesire

Making the world a better place by allowing kids to see you throwing paint on celebrities? Ever since the days of Cave men, humans have worn fur. They still wear fur in Africa and in northern Asia because they are still one with the earth. PETA is no different than a terrorist organization. Standing on their soap box preaching to the world, “Do it our way or else!” Grow Up!

  • wdesire

What next? We’re going to stop Lions from feeding off on the Elk and Zebra and start feeding lions salads? Maybe we’ll start protecting the lowly earth worm from the All Mighty Blue Jay. I dont condone the torture of animals but I will never agree with PETA’s terrorist like tactics to get their message across
