Tracy Morgan Confirmed In “Critical Condition”; Comedian James McNair Dead
Tracy Morgan is alive but badly hurt after a major car accident in New Jersey early on Saturday. As Gossip Cop reported, the “30 Rock” star was aboard a limousine bus when it became involved in a six-vehicle crash on the turnpike. James McNair, another comedian who wrote for Morgan and was known as “Uncle Jimmy Mack,” died in the wreck. He was 63.
A rep for Morgan has now issued a statement on his status. “Tracy remains in critical condition at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware,” says the spokesperson. The rep adds, “His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don’t anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.”
There’s been an outpouring of love and support for Morgan on Twitter in the wake of the tragedy. Two other comics, Harris Stanton and Ardie Fuqua, were also reportedly in Morgan’s bus at the time of the accident. The cause of the wreck, which involved two tractor-trailers, has not been confirmed.
