James McAvoy and wife Anne-Marie Duff are ending their nearly 10-year marriage, Gossip Cop confirms. The couple released a statement on Friday announcing their divorce.
“It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce,” the now ex-couple said in their statement. “We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son. We ask that you respect our and, most importantly, our child’s privacy during this time.”
McAvoy and Duff began dating in 2004 after meeting on the set of the BBC series “Shameless,” in which they co-starred as love interests. Some of the actresses other credits include the recent films Suffragette and Before I Go To Sleep, while McAvoy will next appear in the superhero sequel X-Men: Apocalypse. The pair were married in 2006, and share one child together, son Brendan, who was born in 2010.
As Gossip Cop reported in November, McAvoy got personal about his sex life during an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live.” When McAvoy was asked if he’s ever “faked an orgasm,” the actor said he hadn’t, but has “been asked if I faked it, and I was like, ‘Really? Was it that underwhelming?’”
