James Dawson VIII “American Idol” Audition Video: Guitar Player And Amber Lynn Get Double Golden Ticket – WATCH!
James Dawson VIII was forced to audition on “American Idol” on Thursday, and it paid off in a big way. Watch below!
The 23-year-old Californian originally went to the Denver auditions to play guitar for friend Amber Lynn, but she convinced him to try out, too. The pair insisted they were like brother and sister, but Ryan Seacrest amusingly said he gives it a year until love sets in. Amber Lynn sang first, and Dawson (aka just James The Eighth) did indeed accompany her on the guitar.
Harry Connick, Jr. called Lynn “talented,” but was critical of Dawson’s guitar-playing skills, saying he was “rushing.” When it was his turn to show off his voice, he again used the guitar as he sang John Legend’s “Sun Comes Up.” Dawson added some extra funk to the track, which went over well with the panel.
“It’s refreshing to see people who are clearly sort of born to do this,” Connick told him afterward, this time complimenting Dawson’s guitar skills. Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez were impressed, too, and she even pointed out his good looks. She went on to hand out two golden tickets, with the panel opting not to even vote.
Amber Lynn told Dawson after, “I think this is the start to a fantastic, long journey on ‘American Idol.'” Check out the video below!
