James Corden “Excited” For First Thanksgiving, Mocks Holiday Traditions (VIDEO)
James Corden did a hilarious monologue on Wednesday’s “Late Late Show” about how “excited” he is for his “very first” Thanksgiving. Watch below!
The British star moved to Los Angeles earlier this year to take over hosting duties on the CBS late-night show. As such, he’s a newbie when it comes to many American traditions. And while he expressed some skepticism about Halloween last month, Corden was ready to dive in to Thanksgiving celebrations.
He began by astutely noting Thanksgiving is “a day where Americans celebrate what they have before realizing they need more and ditching dinner to sit in a tent outside of Best Buy.” Corden then went on to do an extended joke about reuniting with old crushes when everyone returns to their hometowns for the holiday.
One thing, however, he just didn’t understand was the attraction to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “Why would you go see this in person?” Corden asked incredulously. “It’s November in New York! It’s four degrees! Even the Pillsbury Dough Boy has got hard nipples!”
Corden ended with a lengthy comparison between Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations, and the often torturous family bonding both entail. But with Thanksgiving, he amusingly noted that everyone falls asleep “sound with the knowledge you won’t have to go through this experience again for one whole month.” Check out the full video below!
