Jake Gyllenhaal Is RIPPED In New Movie — Look At Incredible Body Transformation!
Jake Gyllenhaal is ripped in his new movie Southpaw. The actor plays a boxer in the film, and the first image released by The Weinstein Company shows Gyllenhaal definitely put in the proper training for the role. Check out the picture at right and below!
The image is especially startling given how much weight Gyllenhaal famously dropped for his part in Nightcrawler, currently in theaters. In Southpaw, he plays a down-and-out junior middleweight champion forced to make a big comeback after tragedy strikes.
Speaking to Deadline, director Antoine Fuqua says, “Jake is going to change how people see him. I had him training twice a day in the boxing ring, he did two-a-days seven days a week. I pretty much had him with me and my trainer every day.”
He adds, “I asked this guy from day one, ‘I need you in the gym every day. I need you to train every day.’ And I said, ‘The word is sacrifice.’ Literally. I think he broke up with his girlfriend because he was just in the gym every day.” Fuqua continues, “He was training like a fighter. I had him sparring, really getting hit. I put him in situations where I wanted to see what he was made of. No one but fighters understand the sacrifice it takes to be a fighter.” It seems as though Gyllenhaal pretty fully inhabits the role. What do you think of the picture?
