Fake “Jake Gyllenhaal” Twitter Account Endorses Mitt Romney, Dupes Outlets

Did Jake Gyllenhaal endorse Mitt Romney for President?

Late Monday, major outlets picked up on Twitter messages, purportedly from the actor, that seemed to support Romney’s candidacy over President Obama.

“If Obama Has All These Answers Of How To Save Our Country, Why Hasnt He Implemented These In The Last Four Years,” read the first “Gyllenhaal” tweet from the @Jake_Gyllenhaal account.

A second tweet read, “As A Democrat, I’ll say it now, I endorse Mitt Romney For President Of The United States #MyVoteIsMade.”

One tiny problem: That is not Jake Gyllenhaal’s actual Twitter account.

It’s a fake.

In fact, @Jake_Gyllenhaal even identifies itself as a “fansite.”

    @Jackalexanderia some of them have been involved in politics as supporters for decades and actually care how this country turns out especially for the underprivillaged or sick children. as for instance Jake’s own late godfathers widow does. correct Jakes godfather was Paul Newman who with his widow Joanne Woodward founded the Hole In The Wall Gang camps for terminally Ill Children in 1986 though not fully opperational until 1988. just because they are actors doesn’t mean they gave up their right to citizenship voting is the mos important civic duty unless your compelled to speak infront of state or federal goverment about issues that are important to you as Newman & woodward did on many ocassions for varied issues including funding for arts education and stem cell research
