Jake Gyllenhaal And Charlize Theron NOT “Secretly Dating,” Despite Report
According to OK!, Theron turned to longtime friend Gyllenhaal for support after her engagement with Sean Penn ended last June. A so-called “eyewitness” tells the tabloid that the two were getting cozy while dining at a Los Angeles sushi spot. “Jake was touching her hand and smiling, making her laugh,” alleges a supposed fellow diner. “Their chemistry was obvious.”
Another “source” goes on to claim in the magazine that it wasn’t the first date for the pair, for whom there’s “always been attraction,” but the “timing was never right.” The tabloid’s alleged insider adds, “The romance is fresh, but they are having a blast so far.” The magazine then arbitrarily drags Penn into the mix in an attempt to compare his and Gyllenhaal’s temperaments. The “source” claims that while “you never knew what might set [Penn] off,” Gyllenhaal is “gentle, thoughtful and kind.”
None of this, however, is true. Of course, this isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has busted the magazine for trying to romantically link Gyllenhaal and Theron to other famous people for the sake of a story. In May 2014, we corrected OK! when it alleged that Gwyneth Paltrow had her eye on Gyllenhaal. And just prior to that, we shot down a rumor that Keanu Reeves was “heartbroken” over Theron and Penn’s relationship. There wasn’t a shred of truth to either of those tales nor to the tabloid’s latest claim.
Gyllenhaal’s rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop the actor and Theron are not secretly dating, and that the tabloid’s “ridiculous” report is just “not true.”
