Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon Keep Frustrating Gossip Sites by Not Splitting

Last weekend People.com goofed and announced Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal had split. Gossip Cop jumped on the report and confirmed that the couple was still very much together.

Now some new rumors deserve equally swift dismissal. BettyConfidential.com cites a “source” who claims Gyllenhaal was pressing Witherspoon “to tie the knot,” leading to an “ultimatum” that she agree to marry by Christmas or they’d have to split up. The story even ropes Witherspoon’s ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe, into the mix, asserting that the former spouses’ frequent conversations “didn’t sit well with Jake.”

First of all, Phillippe and Witherspoon were married for eight years and have two children together. Think they might have good reason to pick up the phone and talk every now and then?

Also: there was no marriage ultimatum ending in a split… because there was no split. A representative for Gyllenhaal told Gossip Cop that nothing has changed since their statement last week, meaning Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon are calling claims of a split “untrue.”
